Donations needed for NAIDOC Week
The Dr Steve Burroughs Foundation will be in the Lightening Ridge community during NAIDOC Week, hoping to hand out essential items to assist people experiencing poverty. We are seeking your support to assist in the donation of personal care items to be issued during NAIDOC Week celebrations next month.
Donations of simple items including hand and bath towels, razors, tissues, and eye wash are requested. They will be distributed to Indigenous community members attending health care services during the event.
“We are anticipating hundreds of community members to attend the NAIDOC Week events in Lightening Ridge. They will be invited to have a free health check and receive the donated items they desperately need,” Dr Burroughs said.
“People can either donate new items or fund the purchase of items to assist this important program. This is a simple and inexpensive way to lend a hand to our Indigenous communities.” Donate online now or call Dr Steve to arrange drop-off of your donations.
We hosted our very first trivia night fundraiser on May 2 at the Hellenic Club in the City. The team from IQ Trivia tested the general knowledge of our 150 attendees with the winning team taking home a $600 Pialligo Estate gift voucher.
Our guests heard from two directors, Dr Steve Burroughs and Victor Hunter, who spoke about the importance of the Foundation’s work. We also had a few projects on display so attendees could see examples of our work.
Our fantastic auction and raffle items went home with lucky winners, including several the hand-painted carry bags from our Swag Project.
The night was a massive success! We would like to say a massive thank you to Nexia Australia, Briggs & Stratton, Questacon, Pialligo Estate Winery, LJ Hooker Canberra Group and the Hellenic Club for their support on the night.
